April 2003 Mailed Minutes
2003-04-28
The regular meeting of the El Jebel RADOPS was held at the Shrine Center on Monday evening, April 28, 2003. President Jim Oliver opened the meeting at 19:00 hours with all officers present except Divan Rep Jim Thoeming.

Chaplain Roy Maxwell gave the invocation. Illness and distress reported: Past Potentate Marion Pifer had past away this week, Dick Elkins will have surgery to eliminate some bone spurs, Alan Langfeldt will have knee surgery as did Becky Villhauer, Bob Grimes will have some tests, Mali Krishnamurthi’s wife is not well, and President Jim Oliver is having a flare up of some old back problems.

Secretary Ken Behrens noted a quorum of 5 elected officers and 18 members present.
It was moved by Roy Maxwell and seconded by Gerry Villhauer that the minutes of the March 24, 2003 meeting be approved as read. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report - Treasurer Mac McElravy: The Treasurer's report is on file with the Secretary.
Mac reported that he had purchased the rung in the Ladder of Smiles in memory of Don Case. He also received a memorial check in the amount of $37.50 for Will Evans, past President 1981 from Kaiser-Hill Company. It was moved by Mac McElravy and seconded by Sid Wright that the Treasurer’s report be accepted. Motion carried.

Committee Reports:
Ø Circus - 2nd VP Dave Pierce: 1st Vice President Jim Schneider will check to see if all of the circus sales have been credited properly to the RADOPS.
Ø Membership - Harold Bethune: President Jim Oliver is working on Sam Whitner to join the unit. He asked for a schedule and location of VE exams so that Sam can take his test.
Ø Net Control - Jim Schneider: Jim Oliver apologized for forgetting the net on Easter Sunday.
Ø Parades - Dave Pierce: Next parade will be Commerce City. Approximately 12 members have indicated that they will work the parade and Jim Oliver will turn in this number for Bar B Q reservations. El Jebel will form up at the normal location. Gerry Villhauer will set up the repeater at Howard Eldridge’s house.
Ø Repeater - 1st VP Jim Schneider, Bill Greene, & Sid Wright: Jim Oliver will realign the antenna elements to get better coverage. Gerry Villhauer reported that the group that may be interested in the 2 meter antenna has been given a location on Squaw Mountain. He will make the contact to offer our antenna for sale. Sid Wright said that the microphone for the 440 repeater is missing and asked if anyone involved in the move had seen the ICOM HM4. Bill Greene could not find it in his gear and thinks it may have been sold by mistake. Several offers of replacement mikes were made that could be modified for a 7 pin connector. Gerry Villhauer suggested that we investigate ComCast as a provider for the phone patch since the cable was in place for the apartment.
Ø Uniform & Equipment - 1st VP Jim Schneider: Jim Oliver checked with ARRL on customizing their vests and found that customization is not possible so we will need to explore other options. Alan Langfeldt has an embroidery machine and will do the lettering for the price of the materials if we decide to make vests ourselves.
Communications - Ken Behrens: Ken Behrens read the acknowledgment and thank you note for the donation in memory of Past President Will Evans.

Unfinished Business: None.
