- Call to Order
Secretary Ken Behrens noted that a quorum of 11 members was present, 4 of which were elected officers. President Emit Hurdelbrink called to order the meeting of the Radops of El Jebel at 1900 hours February 26th, 2024, with all officers present. Glenn Fishel was excused because of illness. Jim Oliver gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Installation of Officers
- Divan Representative Jim Oliver installed Vice President Paul Harrison and Secretary Ken Behrens.
- Illness and Distress
- Sam Wittner has sent a sympathy card to Curtis Bradley’s family.
- Rich Wall reported that Don Cox and his Lady Linda are moving to Missouri on 16 March to be with family.
- Linda Fishel sent a text saying that Glenn is having a bout of COVID and would not be able to join the meeting on Zoom.
- Approval of Minutes from last meeting
- Michael Marcus moved and Chuck Noah seconded that the January 22nd, 2024 minutes be approved as published. Motion carried unanimously.
- Treasurer’s Report
- The Treasurer’s report is on file with the secretary.
- Rich Wall moved and Jim Oliver seconded that the Treasurer’s report be accepted. Motion carried unanimously.
- Committee Reports
- Net Control:
- Paul Harrison said that all is going fine.
- Parades:
- First parade of the season will be the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Denver. Watch for a MailChimp for details.
- Repeater:
- Emit Hurdelbrink stated that 2 unlicensed individuals have been using the 2m repeater and ID’ing with callsigns not in the FCC database.
- Emit has offered to help them get a license but received no response.
- He has filed a complaint with the FCC.
- He also suggested that the reference to the 100 Hz PL tone be removed from the script.
- Communications:
- Secretary Ken Behrens read the email received from John Ringland asking for a demit from the Radops. His request requires no further action by the members and is granted because he is in good standing for 2024.
- Unfinished Business
- None.
- New Business
- Emit Hurdelbrink moved and seconded by Michael Marcus that Illustrious Sir Jim Dawkins be given the Radops challenge coin. Motion carried unanimously.
- Rich Wall moved and seconded by Michael Marcus that a $200.00 stipend be given to Secretary Ken Behrens to offset expenses and use of his computers for the previous year. Motion passed with 10 voting “aye” and 1 abstention by Ken Behrens.
- Good of the Order
- Emit Hurdelbrink sold Milt Bonhams’s ham gear at a ham fest netting $300.00 to be deposited in the Radops treasury.
- The remaining gear was given to a Boy Scout Troop in Falcon, CO.
- The installation of the Radops brick needs to be verified that it is in place.
- Chuck Noah brought in some radio equipment for members to take at no charge. He also has 2 antennas available that are free for pick up at his QTH.
- He also mentioned that the High 12 meeting is held at Heather Gardens on the 4th Wednesday of the month starting at 1100 hours. He encouraged members to attend and consider joining the club.
- Jim Schneider said that he had visited with Ken Jones on their recent trip to Florida.
- Jim Oliver said that he is turning 80 tomorrow.
- Divan Representative
- Jim Oliver reminded us to use the Red Fez to keep up with all Shrine activities.
- The raffle is gearing up. Sam Wittner said that the recognition of top salesmen needs to be fixed.
- Jim said all the Divan Representatives need to hear from the Nobility about issues that need to be taken back to the Divan.
